Abu Simbel day trip from from Aswan
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and travel to Abu Simbel to visit the most famous temples of King Ramses II and his wife Queen Nefertari. At the site you will see the Great and Small Temples carved into solid rock above the banks of the Nile. As you move through the complex, you will explore the rock-cut sanctuary and its sculptural decoration that give the site its remarkable character. The Abu Simbel complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site called the “Nubian Monuments,” which run from Abu Simbel downstream to Phil (near Aswan). It is believed that ancient Egyptian architects aligned the temple so that on October 22 and February 22 the sun’s rays penetrate the sanctuary and illuminate the sculptures on the back wall, with the exception of the statue of Ptah, a god associated with the Underworld, who remains in the dark. After your visit you will return to Aswan.
