Abu Simbel Temple From Aswan One Day Trip
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
The rock temples of Abu Simbel were originally carved from the mountainside in the 13th century BC during the 19th dynasty under Pharaoh Ramesses II. They were built as a lasting monument to the king and his queen Nefertari and to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh. You will see the twin temples rising from the banks of Lake Nasser and view the carved façades and interior scenes that tell the story of Ramesses and his reign. On this visit you will be accompanied by a qualified Egyptologist who will explain the history and significance of the monuments. You can take a shared tour or a private tour from Aswan, travelling by bus/coach or private car, and enjoy a personalised experience as you move through the site. Along the way you will have time to explore the most impressive scenes inside the temples and to see original documents relating to the Abu Simbel relocation project. The guide will put the architecture, reliefs and the relocation work into context so you leave with a clear understanding of why these temples are so important.
