Alexandria Day Tour From Cairo
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
The tour begins at the Library of Alexandria, the largest library in the world and now holding around 8 million books. Please note the library is closed on Fridays and on public holidays. From there you will visit the Roman Amphitheatre of Alexandria, uncovered beneath the east harbour, and then head to the Church of St Mark, widely regarded as the oldest church in Africa. As you move through the city, you will explore Alexandria’s old downtown and its traditional markets, where stalls sell everything from everyday goods to Egyptian sweets and treats. You will also visit El Nabi Daniel Mosque, a site many people associate with a connection to Alexander the Great’s tomb. The route continues through the historic market area of Mansheya and brings you to the city’s largest mosque, Abbo Elabbas. Opposite the mosque you will see the corniche and the old harbour, with its fishing boats lining the water. The tour will also include a view of the exterior of Qaitbay Castle as you travel around the seafront, giving a rounded sense of Alexandria’s coastal history and urban life.
