Cairo Citadel, Civilization Museum and Old Cairo

Overview

Your guide will collect you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in a private vehicle and take you to the Citadel of Saladin. There you will see the Mohamed Ali Mosque and the Alabaster Mosque attributed to Mohamed Ali, the latter designed by architect Yousif Boushnaq in an Ottoman style. Along the way, your guide will share the history of the citadel and its architecture. You will then travel into Coptic Cairo, often called Old Cairo, with your private guide to explore the area’s early churches and museums. As you move through the neighbourhood, you will visit the Hanging Church and Abu Serga, where the holy family is said to have taken refuge. You will also visit the Coptic Museum to view the collection of artefacts that tell the story of Egypt’s Coptic Christian community, one of the world’s oldest. The whole tour is provided as a private experience, with hotel pickup and transfer included.
