Cairo Private Day Tour (Mummies Museum – Citadel – Coptic Cairo)
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will be accompanied by a tour guide to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which houses the Royal Mummies of ancient Egyptian kings and displays artefacts from different ages. The museum offers context for Egypt’s long history and the royal burials that survive to today. You will then move on to the Citadel of Salah al‑Din, a medieval Islamic‑era fortification that served as Egypt’s seat of government and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years, from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its position on a promontory of the Mokattam hills commands strategic views over Cairo. As you move through Coptic Cairo, also called Old Cairo, you will see the remains of the Roman fortress of Babylon (2nd century A.D.) and visit the Hanging Church of the Virgin Mary, built over the fortress tower. You will also visit the church of Abu Serga (St. Sergio) with the Holy Crypt, where the Holy Family stayed for three months, and the Synagogue of Ben Ezra, believed to be the place where baby Moses was found by the Pharaoh’s wife.
