Overview

You will be picked up from your Cairo hotel in a private air-conditioned van with a personal guide and taken on a relaxed drive about 105 km southwest to Fayoum. Along the way you will reach the area surrounding an interior lake in Fayoum Down, said to cover around 53,000 acres. At the edge of the oasis you will see the ruined temples of Karanis, the ancient city that served as a capital in the Middle Kingdom era and played an important role in the region. The visit continues at the Fayoum Museum, known for its Roman portraits and the small statues uncovered by excavations. You will then go on to Wadi Al Rayan, regarded as one of Egypt’s finest natural oases and home to what is considered the country’s largest waterfall. Here you may enjoy the cataracts by riding a felucca around them or by walking on them and taking photographs. After the excursion you will be driven back to your hotel in Cairo.
