In Egypt, an overland journey offers a land-based way to see the country, ideal if you prefer to avoid cruises or want a different perspective. You’ll explore the ancient sites of Cairo and Giza, moving through historic streets and archaeological areas that reflect Egypt’s long past. Along the way, you’ll also visit the Mediterranean city of Alexandria to see a coastal side of the country. You’ll then travel south by sleeper train to Upper Egypt to reach Luxor and Aswan. In those cities you’ll experience the magnificent temples that define the region, with opportunities to explore their architecture, reliefs and the stories they hold. Throughout the trip you’ll travel between key cities overland and by train, combining urban history, coastal scenery and the monumental temple complexes of Luxor and Aswan for a rounded view of Egypt’s ancient heritage.
