Egyptian Museum, Citadel and Old Cairo
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will begin at the Egyptian Museum, where you can admire a rich collection of artifacts from Ancient Egypt. As you move through the galleries, you will see objects that illustrate the civilisation’s art, religion and daily life, offering context for what made ancient Egyptian culture so influential. The tour continues to the Salah El Din Citadel, which was constructed in 1183 AD, and includes a visit to the Mohamed Ali Mosque, built inside the castle in the 19th century. Along the way you will experience the contrast between medieval fortifications and later Ottoman architecture. You will also explore Old Cairo, the site of the city that pre-dated modern Cairo, where many historic churches and a Roman fort stand as reminders of the area’s long and layered history.
