Overview
From Hurghada, you will visit the ancient city of Thebes and explore Luxor’s East and West Banks of the Nile. On the east side you’ll admire the vast Karnak complex and stroll along the Avenue of the Sphinxes that connects to Luxor Temple. As you move through Luxor Temple, you will see the impressive statues associated with Pharaoh Ramses II and learn about the site’s role in ancient Egyptian worship. You will cross the river to explore the West Bank’s funerary monuments, including the Valley of the Kings, where tombs were carved from the desert rock. Along the way you will learn how these tombs were decorated and filled with treasures intended to accompany the ruling classes into the afterlife. You will also see the two soaring Colossi of Memnon and visit the striking funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Lunch is included.
