Overview

In Alexandria you'll explore highlights that reflect the city’s ancient and later histories. You will visit the Catacombs of Kom el Shokafa, a first‑century burial site, and take in the views at Pompey’s Pillar while seeing the ruined temple of Serapium nearby. Along the way you will see the royal jewellery of Egypt’s last royal family on display in the jewellery museum. You will walk along the Mediterranean beside Quaitbay Fort and go inside the fort to learn more about medieval fighting techniques. From outside you will also see the famous library and bibliotheca of Alexandria, and you will pass the well‑known Stanley Bridge before returning to Cairo.
