A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.
Overview
You will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo for a day trip to Alexandria. Along the way you will visit Pompey’s Pillar, a monument constructed in honour of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally part of the temple of Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure said to have rivalled the Soma and the Caesarean. As you move through Alexandria, you will explore the Catacombs, the largest Roman cemetery with three levels cut into the rock. You will then stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Alexandria. After lunch you will see the Qaitbay Citadel, built on the site of the ancient pharaohs’ lighthouse of Alexandria, and visit the Bibliotheca Alexandria. Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
