Overview
On this Cairo tour you will visit the pyramid of King Zoser at Saqqara, the first real pyramid to be constructed in ancient Egypt. Along the way you will continue to Memphis, described as the most important city of Egypt from the 3rd millennium BC and known as the City of the dead — it served as the capital when King Menes unified Upper and Lower Egypt. You will then travel to Dahshur, where King Senfru made his second attempt to build a proper pyramid. There you will see the Bent Pyramid, about 100 metres in height with each side of its square base measuring 188 metres, and the Red Pyramid, Senfru’s successful effort and the second largest pyramid in Egypt after the Great Pyramid of Cheops — only 10 metres shorter than Cheops. Lunch is arranged at a local Egyptian restaurant but is not included. After the sights, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
