Starting from Cairo, you'll travel to Alexandria, the Pearl of the Mediterranean, to explore its rich history and vibrant culture. Known for its Roman and Greek influences, the city mixes ancient and contemporary stories across its streets and seafront. You will visit the Citadel of Qaitbay and will see the site of the vanished Lighthouse of Alexandria, two landmarks that reflect the city’s maritime past. Along the way, you will explore landmarks that reveal Alexandria’s Hellenistic and Roman heritage and how those layers of history meet the modern city. You will have opportunities to take photographs and to pause and absorb the atmosphere of each site. Please note the Alexandria Library is closed on Friday, so you will be able to take photos only from outside on that day.
