Overview
Your day begins with a private, qualified Egyptologist collecting you from your hotel in a modern, private air‑conditioned van with free WiFi. Your first stop will be Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, where you will visit the site museum and see the colossal statue of King Ramses II alongside the huge alabaster sphinx. As you move on to Saqqara, you will explore the Step Pyramid of King Zoser (about 2700 B.C.), which is considered an intermediate stage between the mastaba and the true pyramid. In the Saqqara area you will also visit the tomb of Kagemni, a nobleman (around 2200 B.C.), the causeway of Unas and the pyramid of Teti. Along the way you will have a rest and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Later, you will explore the Valley Temple and the Sphinx before being transferred back to your hotel. Throughout the day your Egyptologist will provide context and insights into the monuments you see, helping you understand their history and significance.
