Overview

The West Bank of Luxor is considered the largest royal necropolis in the world. Here the Valley of the Kings contains 63 royal tombs, and you will explore an area that has long been central to ancient Egyptian burial practices and royal memorials. Around the valley you will find a number of beautiful funeral temples. Among them is the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, notable for its unique architectural plan. Along the way you may have the chance to stand in front of the temple’s gigantic statues, often referred to as the Agamemnon statues, and take in the scale and detail that mark this remarkable site.
