You will be picked up from your hotel for a city tour of Cairo that includes visits to several of the city’s well-known landmarks. You will see the Cairo Tower, a free‑standing concrete tower that stands 187 m (614 ft) tall. You will learn that it was the tallest structure in Egypt for 37 years until 1998, was the tallest in North Africa for 21 years until 1982, and held the title of Africa’s tallest structure for one year until 1962. Along the way you will pass Talaat Harb Street, a historic street in downtown Cairo that connects Tahrir Square with Talaat Harb Square. You will also explore Khan el‑Khalili, the famous bazaar and souq in Cairo’s historic centre. Established as a centre of trade in the Mamluk era and named for one of its several historic caravanserais, the bazaar district has become one of Cairo’s main attractions for both tourists and Egyptians alike.
