Overview

A Tamer Safari Tours representative will pick you up from your hotel in Luxor and take you to two important ancient sites. First you will visit Abydos, a sacred site long believed to be the burial place of the god of the underworld. The main monument there is the Temple of Seti I, begun by King Seti I and completed by King Ramsess II. It stands in Abydos city, about 420 km south of Cairo and 135 km from Luxor in the Sohag Governorate. At the Osiris Temple you will see paintings of gods and pharaohs on the walls that are among the most beautifully preserved in Egypt. You will then continue to Dendera to visit the Temple of Hathor, dedicated to the goddess of love and joy. Dendera is located to the north of Luxor. Along the way and at each site you will explore the temple complexes and their reliefs, architecture and religious significance, focusing on the visual highlights at Abydos and Dendera. The visit centres on experiencing these well-preserved scenes and structures from ancient Egyptian belief and ritual.
