Overview

You will visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser at Saqqara, the world’s oldest major stone structure. Built in the 3rd Dynasty for King Zoser, the site will show you an early and influential stage in ancient Egyptian architecture. You will then go to Dahshur, where you will enter the Red Pyramid, regarded as the oldest true pyramid in history, and view the Bent Pyramid, noted for being the most well preserved. After Dahshur you will continue to the ancient city of Memphis, founded by King Menes and the capital during the Old Kingdom. Memphis was considered a centre of rule and culture for over 5,000 years and is known as Egypt’s first capital. There you will see the statue of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx of Queen Hatshepsut.
