Overview

You will be collected from your hotel in Cairo for a day trip to El Fayoum, with visits centred in the protected area of Wadi El Rayan. As you move through the reserve you will see Qarun Lake and have time for a free walk around Tunis Village. The area is known for its wide views, waterfalls and sandboarding opportunities. Lunch will be served at a good quality restaurant. As an optional addition, the tour may include a visit to Wadi Hitan (the Valley of the Whales), which lies within the Wadi El Rayan Protected Area and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of the 40 million‑year‑old whale skeletons found there. Along the way you may stop at Mudawara Mountain before heading to the Wadi El Rayan waterfalls. Wadi El Rayan is a natural depression in the Western Desert and consists of two lakes connected by Egypt’s only waterfall.
