Private Tour to Old Coptic Cairo & the Cave Church of St. Simon.
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
In the morning you'll be picked up from your hotel in Cairo and driven up Mokattam Mountain to the Monastery of Saint Simon, also known as the Cave Church of the Zabbaleen. The route passes through the area often called Garbage City, home to a large community of Zabbaleen. At the monastery you'll see Saint Simon the Tanner Hall and St Mark’s Church. The huge cave was discovered in 1974; its upper story, St Simon the Tanner Hall, seats about 2,000 people and the rock walls are decorated with engraved pictures depicting scenes from the Bible. You will then visit the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary and St Simon the Tanner before continuing to Old Coptic Cairo. There you'll explore several old Coptic churches, visit the Ben Ezra synagogue and the place where Moses the prophet lived for a while. After the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel.
