Overview
You will explore the religious heart of Old Cairo, also known as the Coptic City, and visit several historic sites within the neighbourhood. Along the way you’ll see the ruins of the Roman fortress of Babylon (1st century AD) and walk to the Hanging Church, which was founded above one of the fortress towers. You will take a tunnel to the Cavern Church of Abu Serga (5th century AD) and see the cave where the Holy Family are said to have stayed for more than three months. Later you will visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue and learn why Jews insisted on building a synagogue at that particular site. After the visits you will enjoy lunch, and then you will be dropped back at your hotel.
