Overview

This two-day experience takes you through some of Egypt’s most famous ancient sites and the historic heart of Cairo. On the first day you will be taken to the Giza Pyramids, where you can take in the scale and setting of these iconic monuments, then continue to the ancient necropolis at Sakkara to explore its older stepped tombs and funerary complexes. You will also visit Memphis, the ancient capital, where the ruins and open-air displays illustrate life in pharaonic times. On the second day you will explore the Egyptian Museum and its displays of objects from ancient Egypt. You will then move through Old Cairo, with its layers of history and religious sites, and visit the Citadel to see its commanding position over the city. The day ends in Khan Al Khalili, the traditional bazaar, where you can walk among narrow alleys filled with shops and stalls. Along the way you will learn about Egypt’s long history and see a range of monuments and cultural highlights that span millennia.
