Overview

You will explore some of Egypt’s most iconic pyramid sites while learning about how pyramid building developed over time. Along the way you’ll study the building techniques Egyptian builders may have used, examine the relationship between the pyramids’ locations and astronomical constellations, and hear about enigmatic secrets surrounding these ancient monuments. You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Cairo and driven to Saqqara to visit the Step Pyramid, the oldest stone structure in human history. From there you’ll continue to Dahshur to see the Knick Pyramid and learn why King Snefru had a bent pyramid constructed and why his master builder was later commissioned to build the very first true pyramid nearby. After a break for lunch, the day culminates with a visit to the world‑famous Pyramids of Giza, where Cheops, Chephren and Mekerinios stand together on the plateau. Throughout the experience you’ll receive historical context and intriguing facts that link construction methods, site choices and ancient astronomical ideas.
