Saint Anthony Monastery Trip from Hurghada

Overview

You will visit St Anthony Monastery, the oldest Coptic Orthodox monastery in the world, built in the middle of the desert in the fourth century. Sjptours will pick you up from your hotel in an air-conditioned car and take you to the monastery, where you will explore the oldest church, the garden, a water creek and the wide panorama that surrounds the complex. As you move through the site, you can climb the steps up the mountain to the cave where Saint Anthony once lived; this is optional and without payment. A monk will join the group in the monastery to explain the number and roles of the monks. They will typically also talk about the liturgy of the Orthodox Coptic Church, giving context to the rituals and spaces you see.
