This experience takes you to three of ancient Egypt’s most important sites: Memphis, Saqqara and Dahshur. In Memphis, the country’s first capital, you will see the colossal statue of Ramses II and other impressive artefacts that speak to its former political and cultural power. As you move through the site, you will learn about its role in early Egyptian civilisation. At Saqqara you will come face to face with the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest pyramid in Egypt, which shows the earliest development of pyramid construction. Then you will visit Dahshur to see the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, which together illustrate the architectural evolution toward the smooth‑sided shape that eventually led to the Great Pyramid of Giza. Along the way, you will gain a clearer sense of how pyramid design changed over time and why these sites are historically significant.
