A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will visit the Egyptian Museum to admire artefacts from Ancient Egypt, taking in objects that reflect the country's long history. From there you will move on to the Salah El Din Citadel, constructed in 1183 AD, and explore the site around it. Inside the citadel you will see the Mohamed Ali Mosque, built in the 19th century, and observe how later architecture was placed within the medieval fortress. The tour also includes Old Cairo, the site of a city that pre-dated Cairo. Here you will encounter many historic churches and a Roman fort, offering a view of the different communities and eras that shaped the area. Along the way you will move through a sequence of historical layers, from Ancient Egyptian artefacts to medieval fortifications and later religious buildings, each highlighting a different chapter of the region’s past.
