Wadi El-Natrun day trip
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
A trip to Wadi El Natrun will take you to one of the epicentres of Egyptian Christianity. Out of scores of monasteries that once lined the valley, only four remain: Paromeos Monastery, the Monastery of St. Pishoy, the Monastery of St. Macarius the Great and the Syrian Monastery. You will visit these historic sites with a private guide, moving between each monastery to see the places that endure in the valley today. Along the way, your guide will accompany you so you can focus on the experience rather than driving. As you move through Wadi El Natrun, you’ll have time to take in the monasteries’ settings and their surviving buildings and grounds, and to appreciate why this area is regarded as an important centre of Egyptian Christianity. The private-guide arrangement removes the need to navigate the route yourself, leaving you free to explore the four remaining monasteries at a comfortable pace.
