Overview
You will travel from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis, where you will have lunch and change into Land Cruiser vehicles for the desert section of the trip. The Black Desert lies about 25 km from Bahariya Oasis, and you will stop at a high point to take in the wide, dark volcanic landscape from above. From there you will continue to Crystal Mountain, the first stop inside White Desert National Park, to see crystal-like stones and mountains that appear covered in crystal. As you move through the park you will pause at a striking viewpoint in the Al Agbat area for photos, then enjoy time for sandboarding on the dunes. The tour continues into the White Desert itself, beginning in the Old White Desert where you will see the mushroom rock formation. In the New White Desert you will stop at a panoramic point in the middle of the park and explore many unusual rock formations that resemble a camel, a chicken, a tree and a rabbit. Along the way you will experience a contrast of black volcanic fields, sparkling crystal features and the sculpted white chalk landscapes that give the area its name.
