Overview
In Luxor, an Egyptologist guide will accompany you as you travel in an air-conditioned car or van from your hotel to two of the city’s most important ancient sites: Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. Along the way your guide will provide historical context and point out what to look for so you can make the most of each visit. At Karnak Temple you will explore a vast complex regarded as the greatest example of worship in history, dedicated to the god Amon, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. Your guide will explain the religious role of the site and its significance within ancient Egyptian belief. You will then continue to Luxor Temple, originally built by Amunhotep III in the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom and completed by Ramesses II in the 19th Dynasty, where the guide will outline its construction and historical importance. The focus of the visit is on the monuments and their stories, helping you appreciate the architectural and spiritual heritage of ancient Thebes.
